Sensor Tower alternative for ASO, in practice: the long version
Sensor Tower answers "how big is this market and who wins it". aso.best answers "which phrases will this listing win, and let me fix it now". Both are honest jobs; they are different jobs, and only one of them costs less than lunch.
The download figures deserve a straight word. Sensor Tower calibrates its model on thousands of connected developer accounts and still calls the result an estimate. aso.best has far fewer connected accounts, so it shows a range instead of a number and widens it where the signals are thin. When you connect your own account, both show Apple's real count.
